Privacy policy

Draft. Plain-language summary of how this website handles your information.

What we collect

Only what you type into the contact form: your name, company, email, phone, facility type, the services you’re interested in, your regulator, how urgent your request is, and your message. If you arrived through a partner’s or campaign link, the form also sends that link’s source and campaign tags (not anything about you).

If you ask for a guide, the download form collects your email address, your first name if you give it, and your consent (see Email updates). If analytics is on, Google Analytics collects usage information (see Analytics).

How we use it

To respond to your request. Your message is emailed to Safe Foods Support using SendGrid, an email delivery service. We don’t send any automatic emails to the address you enter, and we don’t sell or share your details.

How the contact form works

  • Where it goes. The form posts to this website’s own contact service at /api/contact, which runs on Microsoft Azure. It checks the form, then emails it to Safe Foods Support through SendGrid. No other service receives what you type.
  • Spam checks. The form has a hidden field that people never see; a submission that fills it in is discarded. A form sent within three seconds of the page loading is also discarded, because people don’t type that fast. To slow down repeated sending, the service counts recent submissions from your IP address in its working memory for up to ten minutes; that count isn’t written to disk.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile. Before the form is sent, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is sending it. It loads only after you start filling in the form. Turnstile processes technical information about your browser to do that, and our service passes your IP address to Cloudflare when it verifies the check.
  • What is kept. This website doesn’t store your submission in a database. The service’s logs record only what happened (for example “sent” or “spam check failed”), not your name, email or message. Your message is kept as an email in Safe Foods Support’s inbox. We keep contact-form emails as long as needed to respond to you and for our business records, up to three years, then delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses no advertising cookies. It may use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies; see Analytics below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how the website is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or city level), the device and browser, how visitors found us, and a few actions on the site, such as sending the contact form, tapping our phone number, requesting a quote from “Build your plan” and downloading a guide. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes your IP address to do this.

We never put personal data in these events: no names, email addresses or phone numbers. An event records only things like which service you picked or which guide you downloaded.

To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies for this site in your browser.

Email updates

When you ask for one of our guides, we add your email address (and your first name, if you give it) to our mailing list at Mailchimp, the email service we use, together with which guide you asked for and, if you arrived through a partner’s or campaign link, that link’s source. We use double opt-in: nothing is added until you confirm by clicking the link in the email Mailchimp sends you. After that we send the guide and occasional food safety updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
